As an outgrowth of our software development work for MRTechnology of Japan, we offer their Compact MRI system for sale in the US. The MRT system is a highly capable MRI console that has been optimized to work with permanent magnets. By pairing the console with the appropriate magnet, it is possible to build compact systems for specific applications at a fraction of the cost, space requirements, and maintenance needs of traditional MRI systems.
We offer the MRT system paired with 1 Tesla or 1.5 Tesla permanent magnets for small animal imaging . This system can be sited in a space of 1 x 2 meters. Our software makes the system easy to use, and no cryogen maintenance is required.
We provide proof-of-principle research, mainly related to NMR and MRI, to assess and prove the scientific viability of an idea or design. We also provide support for the development of the product, from the early stages of assessing and optimizing commercial viability to the later stages of helping to establish small or large-scale manufacturing. ABQMR, Inc. can also provide ongoing R&D support for further product upgrades, optimization for profitability, and responding efficiently to changes in the product component supply chain.
Our past experience in college teaching also equips us to support products and companies by offering training to customers, sales and repair personnel, etc. We are also available to advise and effect low-cost NMR/MRI equipment for educational purposes.

The principles at ABQMR have over 60 years of combined experience in experimental NMR and MRI. Both experimental solid state physicists by training, we have designed and built experiments from the ground up, including probes, tank circuits, amplifiers, RF electronics, digital control electronics, computer interfaces, and data acquisition and analysis software. Much of this work has been in the context of unusual experiments or applications, including experiments at low temperatures, those requiring ultra-high bandwidths, imaging of solids and gases, velocity fluctuation imaging, detection of signals at very low frequency, detection of very small signals, and many others. The objects of these experiments have included probing the structure and electronic properties of quasi-crystalline metal hydrides, the mechanisms of segregation in flowing granular matter, the detection of underground fluids, microcoil NMR, unilateral NMR, and many others.

As an example, we recently licensed our ultracompact NMR technoloby to nanoMR, a startup company in Albuquerque, for use as a rare pathogen detector. The technology involves the examination of samples in a microcapillary with a microcoil that passes through a permanent magnet with field strengths between 1 and 2 Tesla. Using magnets that weigh between 800 and 1500 grams, nanoMR is aiming to market a special purpose benchtop NMR unit that will be priced at a very small fraction of normal NM.
